EXTINCTION OF ONE MORE SUBSPECIES OF RHINO

Following the extinction of Javan Rhino(see 25 oct.OPSSEN post),the latest update of IUCN(International Union For Conservation of Nature) Red list declared the subspecies of Black Rhino in Western Africa,the Western Black Rhino(Diceros bicornis longipes) extinct.They were among the 10 long leged subspecies of black rhino.They were continuosly poached for their horns used as trophy and in traditional medicine."Little anti-poaching efforts were done to save them: Crag Hilton Taylor@IUCN"OPSSEN Group
