my face for peace
Peace: it’s up to all of us
My face for peace is an independent peace initiative of the German/Iranian artist Saeeid Dastmalchian and his wife Cordula, launched in October 2012 in Hamburg/Germany for giving face to the wish for global peace.
Show the world your face & say out loud "Peace-Peace & peace "
Peace will never be achieved by force of arms
Positive change is possible only through unity and solidarity of a great mass of people. For too long we have accepted the spectacle for power and money on the stage of world politics. Now let’s show that we notice what happens with open eyes and that we confess together with many our true desire for peace.
Say yes to peace within yourself
Showing face is a first step in a peaceful future. To make this process successful it is inevitable that each of us begins to create peace in the own heart. Let’s start to take responsibility for our own thoughts, feelings and actions and we will find more and more peace in the world.
Let us live peace, rather than only dream
An open heart and an open mind are the most powerful means we have in our hands in order to give peace a chance. Let’s use it for the benefit of all and create the future of our global community.

Natural food preservatives
What will you prefer
as preservative in your food products ?
Worldwide; consumers are
preferring natural and healthier products !
Nature knows the way !
Consumer demand is currently driven towards foods that
are “natural” and free of additives, but still safe and convenient to use [1]
# The high level of
Sugar can act as
preservative. Chocolate, boiled sweets, jams etc.
Artificial
sweetener which is cheaper & healthier but having no preservation effect is
now replacing sugar rich foods ! A poor compromise !
#Naturally
occurring substances such as vinegar, alcohol, diatomaceous earth and castor oil have been used
as preservative since long time.
#Isothiocyanate
and several other
compounds occurring in herbs and spices have
been identified to reduce the microbial count in the food
(including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas fragi and
Pseudomonas aeruginosa) [2].

#Microgard™ is a fermented and pasteurized skim milk-based product
used as a shelf life extender. It contains various antimicrobial agents, such
as acetic acid, propionic acid, and a proteinaceous inhibitor. [3] Used in
cottage cheese industry the storage length was successfully increased by
Microgard [4] . Microgard™ 100 inhibited most Gram-negative bacteria [5].
#Nisin , a lantibiotic-type
bacteriocin produced by various strains of Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis, is licensed for
used as a food biopreservative in many countries.
Nisin can inhibit the outgrowth of Clostridium botulinum spores .But Gram-negatives are generally resistant [6].

#Hops
flowers are most well-known for their use as a
flavoring agent and natural preservative in beer.
#Honey : undiluted honey
acts as viscous barrier to bacteria and infectious agents. Medihoney is
commercially available food &
medical grade honey.
#Neem leaves are used to
prevent insects & microbes in the stored cereal grains.
#Turmeric , cinnamon, and cumin have very good anti-
microbial property. When added in snacks ,they naturally increase the self
life.
#Some fruits like citrus (lemon, orange) &
Tamarind has high acid
content which prevents microbial growth.
#Tea
polyphenols and
*rosemary extract,
have been widely used in the food industry. The preservative effect of tea
polyphenols and rosemary extract is mainly due to the inhibition of some
enzymes activities, as well as the free radical scavenging ability and
therefore prevention of lipid oxidation [7]
#Nutraceuticals (nutritional
pharmaceuticals) includes isolated nutrients, dietary supplements
and herbal products, specific diets, genetically modified food, and
processed foods such as cereals, soups, and beverages. It provide protection
against chronic disease
*rosemary, is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region.

Ointment making at home
Basic infused oil
Prepare
Fresh herb (– e. g. Rose petals ); dried herbs are also ideal
·
Oil: almond, sunflower, (light) olive, soya,
or other
·
Fill clean preserving jar with herb; amount
used will determine the strength of oil; pack down for stronger oily
·
Pour oil to cover herbs and seal jar
·
Leave on a sunny windowsill unopened for 3
weeks at least; shake every day or so
·
Strain through muslin or jelly bag, pour into
(dark) glass bottle, label and date
Keeps
for up to 12 months
Ointments and balms are oil / wax based (80-100%). The basic difference between an ointment and a balm is its consistency: an ointment will be more liquid than a balm because less beeswax or other “stiffening” agent (e.g. plant butter or wax) is used. Ointments and balms are applied externally to the skin or mucous membranes to soften, moisturize or protect, or as a way of delivering active medicinal ingredients via these tissues.
Ointment 1
This
method is based on emulsifying ointment and glycerol.Another
alternative is simply to use Vaseline alone.
•
Weigh dried herb, or prepare fresh herb
before weighing;
•
Melt 60g emulsifying ointment in Pyrex jug
or bowl placed in a pan half filled with water on a low heat on a water bath.
•
Add 27 ml glycerol, 30 ml water and 12 g
herbs
•
Simmer on low heat for 3 hours, stirring
occasionally
•
Top up the water in a Bain Marie (water bath)
as required
•
While still hot, strain through muslin or
clean jelly bag into glass bowl (muslin is a type of cotton cloth)
•
Allow to cool, stirring frequently
•
Using a palette knife or small spatula, scoop
into sterilized dark glass jars (small jars), ensuring that there are no air
bubbles.
Label and date; ointment will work upto 2
years.
Planting 111 trees on the birth of every girl child.
In this current scenario of global biodiversity loss, people of the Piplantri village of Rajasthan(India) are able to achieve sustainable development through adopting emphasis on eco-feminism centered strategies. Here, villagers plant 111 trees every time a girl is born and the community ensures these trees survive, attaining fruiting as the girls grow up.The father of the girl child has to sign an affidifit that he will provide education to her daughter and marry her only after she reaches legal age.And to prevent these trees from being infested with termite, the residents planted over two and a half million Aloevera plants around them. Aloevera plantation have made them earn livelihood. This tradition was started few years ago by the village's former sarpanch Shyam Sundar Paliwal in the memory of his dead daughter.
Other striking tradition is planting 11 trees on the death of any family member.
The village panchayat, which has a website of its own, has completely banned alcohol, open grazing of animals and cutting of trees. Villagers claim that there has not been any police case here for the last 7-8 years.
